Action Against Hunger Nigeria is currently hiring a Humanitarian Access and Security Coordinator for its operations in Maiduguri, Borno State. This is a strategic, high-impact opportunity for experienced security professionals in the humanitarian aid and NGO sector. If you have a background in NGO security management, risk assessment, and humanitarian field operations, this role offers a dynamic platform to lead and coordinate safety and access initiatives across conflict-affected areas in Northeast Nigeria.

Employment Type: Contract (12 months)

Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead humanitarian security coordination to ensure safe, continuous access to program areas.


  • Provide expert guidance on security policies, operational safety, and staff risk management.


  • Conduct and update Security Risk Assessments (SRA) and Security Management Plans (SMP).


  • Strengthen local stakeholder engagement including with INGOs, UN agencies, and government authorities.


  • Supervise safety protocols across all Action Against Hunger field offices and humanitarian projects.


  • Ensure gender-sensitive security measures and conflict-sensitive programming.


  • Train staff and local partners in security best practices and crisis response protocols.



Qualifications and Skills:


  • Master's degree in International Relations, Security Studies, or related field.


  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in humanitarian program security management, ideally in conflict zones.


  • Expertise in NGO safety operations, crisis management, and inter-agency coordination.


  • Strong knowledge of humanitarian principles, security policies, and communication systems.


  • Fluency in English (spoken and written) is mandatory.


  • Experience working in Nigeria or West Africa is highly desirable.



For International Candidates:


Monthly gross salary: €2,597–€2,968


Monthly per diem and allowances: €837 + €450 country allowance

Health and repatriation insurance: 100% covered

Child allowance: up to €6,000/year

25 paid leave days + 20 R&R days per year

Travel, relocation, and accommodation support



For Nigerian Nationals:

Monthly salary: $1,721 (paid in Naira at ACF exchange rate)

Living condition allowance: $141/month

10% leave allowance, 10% pension contribution

2 days annual leave per month

Private medical insurance and life cover included

Relocation allowance: $130
