Job Overview:
As the Tax Manager, you will lead the organization’s tax compliance and planning processes across various tax types, including CIT, VAT, WHT, PAYE, and Transfer Pricing. This role plays a critical function in tax audit management, deferred tax reporting, and ensuring full compliance with FIRS and State Revenue Services regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and review tax compliance across Corporate Tax, VAT, WHT, PAYE, Education Tax, etc.
- Manage Transfer Pricing documentation and filing for related-party transactions
- Review financial entries to identify tax implications and recommend corrective actions
- Handle deferred tax computation, reconciliation, and effective tax rate optimization
- Evaluate contract and transaction structures for embedded tax risks
- Manage Certificate of Acceptance for Fixed Assets (CAFA) documentation and consultant coordination
- Supervise the Tax Officer and provide on-the-job training
- Liaise with FIRS and SIRS to resolve tax queries and prevent penalties
- Lead tax audits and provide strategic direction for risk mitigation
Minimum Qualifications:
- B.Sc./HND in Accounting, Economics, Statistics, or a related field
- Minimum of 8 years of post-qualification relevant tax experience
- Professional certifications (ACA, ACCA, ACTI) are mandatory
Key Skills and Competencies:
- Advanced knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and FIRS regulations
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and supervisory skills
- Proficient in general ledger and tax accounting principles
- Ability to manage multiple tax functions under tight deadlines
- Detail-oriented with a strategic mindset
