Job Overview – Head of Department Finance
📍 Location: Abuja, Nigeria

Key Responsibilities:
✅ Financial Strategy & Budget Management:
Provide financial and budgetary guidance to other departments to align with organizational strategy.
Ensure budgets are accurately prepared, monitored, and aligned with project goals.
Prepare high-quality financial reports for donors and internal stakeholders.
✅ Accounting & Compliance:
Monitor financial transactions, bank reconciliations, and budget expenditures.
Ensure accurate data entry in the SAGA accounting system.
Conduct internal audits to identify risks, fraud, or compliance issues.
Oversee the financial aspects of partnerships, including financial risk assessments.
✅ Financial Reporting & Risk Management:
Develop financial reports according to donor requirements and organization policies.
Identify potential financial risks (exchange rate fluctuations, inflation, etc.) and provide solutions.
Ensure compliance with international donor regulations, including USAID, EU, UN, and others.
✅ Cash Flow & Treasury Management:
Approve mission expenses, vendor payments, and treasury transfers.
Monitor and forecast cash flow requirements for project implementation.
✅ Team Leadership & Training:
Supervise and develop the finance team, conducting capacity-building training.
Assess and improve financial processes, introducing new financial management strategies.
Qualifications & Skills Required:
📌 Educational Background:
Advanced Degree in Finance/Accounting (or related field).
Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, CFA, CPA) is an added advantage.
📌 Work Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in finance, including 3 years in a leadership role.
Strong background in budget and financial risk management.
Experience working with international NGOs, donor-funded projects, or humanitarian organizations.
📌 Technical Skills:
Proficiency in financial software (SAGA, QuickBooks, or similar systems).
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for financial modeling and analysis.
