Job Overview – What You’ll Do


The Business Development & Relationship Manager (BDRM) will be responsible for onboarding new Direct Lending (DL) partners, managing client relationships, analyzing market opportunities, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. This role requires expertise in credit administration, risk management, and business strategy to support MSME financing and economic development.


Key Responsibilities


✔ Client Acquisition & Business Development

Identify and onboard new Direct Lending partners to increase MSME funding.

Develop and execute strategies to expand loan disbursements to underserved sectors.

Explore partnerships with entities in Agribusiness, FMCG, and Fintech for MSME financing.

✔ Portfolio & Risk Management

Monitor loan performance and ensure compliance with financial policies.

Conduct risk assessments to mitigate potential financial losses.

Support due diligence processes and ensure smooth onboarding of partners.

✔ Industry Research & Financial Strategy

Analyze market trends to identify new business opportunities.

Develop reports on loan disbursement performance, gender & youth empowerment impact.

Work with the team to implement digital lending solutions for MSMEs.

✔ Client Relationship Management

Maintain strong partnerships with Direct Lending entities and financial institutions.

Address client concerns and ensure exceptional service delivery.

Negotiate, execute, and manage partnership agreements.



Eligibility & Qualifications


Educational Requirements


✔ Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

✔ Postgraduate degree in business or development finance (added advantage).

✔ Professional Membership (ICAN, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent is a plus).


Work Experience


✔ Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a financial institution or development agency.

✔ Experience in credit administration, business strategy, and risk assessment.


Technical & Soft Skills


✔ Strong knowledge of financial procedures, credit administration, and risk management.

✔ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and banking applications.

✔ Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

✔ Ability to negotiate, strategize, and build long-term client relationships.

✔ Strong leadership and teamwork abilities.
