The African STARS Fellowship Programme, a collaboration between Stellenbosch University's Centre for Epidemic Response and Innovation (CERI) in South Africa, the Institut Pasteur de Dakar (IPD) in Senegal, and the Mastercard Foundation, is now accepting applications. This prestigious programme aims to cultivate the next generation of African leaders in genomics, diagnostics, vaccine development, and biotechnology innovation.

Fellowship Opportunities:

1. Advanced and Translational Training (ATT) Fellowship (4 months): Focuses on advanced genomics for public health, genomic diagnostic design, and vaccine & biomanufacturing.
2. Young Professional Programme (YPP) Fellowship (12 months): Covers research management, innovation & entrepreneurship, infectious diseases R&D for diagnostics, and innovations to enhance patient outcomes in Africa.

Eligibility:

• Applicants must be born in and/or living in Africa
• Aged 35 or younger
• Hold a relevant degree (Bachelor’s minimum; MSc/PhD preferred)
• Have experience in genomics, diagnostics, biotech, or vaccine development
• Demonstrate leadership potential and commitment to Africa’s scientific growth
• Fluent in English or French (both is an advantage)
• Women are strongly encouraged to apply
