Job Opening: Home-Based Research Consultant (Joint AfDB-UNHCR Flagship Study)

 The African Development Bank (AfDB) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) are seeking a Research Consultant to support a Flagship Study on Development Responses to Forced Displacement. The study aims to improve their joint response strategies and address the development challenges resulting from forced displacement in Africa.

Key Responsibilities:

• Data Review and Analysis: Conduct a comprehensive review of AfDB, MDB, and UNHCR portfolios concerning forced displacement contexts across Africa.
• Best Practices and Recommendations: Map out best practices in forced displacement response interventions and provide recommendations to improve coordination and selectivity.
• Policy and Operational Guidance: Suggest policy reforms for MDB and UNHCR operational strategies and propose financing mechanisms to address displacement.
• Report Writing: Prepare detailed reports and proposals, including sector-specific guidance notes for AfDB and MDB practitioners.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in International Development, Economics, Political Science, Law, Social Sciences, or related fields.
• 5 years of experience working on forced displacement issues or related fields.
• Experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative research.
• Familiarity with MDB operational frameworks, financing instruments, and the HDP Nexus.

Work Arrangements:

• Home-based with no mission travels.
•  Part-time with flexible working hours.
• Start Date: March 1, 2025.
•  Contract Duration: Until June 30, 2025.
